Vinous Media (VM)

Deep ruby. Highly scented bouquet of candied red fruits, incense and garrigue, along with a hint of cola. Plush and expansive, with good depth to its sweet raspberry and cherry compote flavors. Distinctly rich wine with good finishing breadth and sappy persistence.

Wine Spectactor (WS)

Offers a wide range of dark, exotic fig, boysenberry and blackberry cobbler notes, with blueberry paste, pastis-drenched plum and smoky black tea flavors, all weaving deftly through the very silky finish. Shows ample concentration, but this is all guile and grace. Best from 2014 through 2032. 2,500 cases made. –JM

The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape is a blend of two-thirds Grenache and the rest primarily Syrah and small quantities of Mourvedre and Cinsault aged in stainless steel. It is an attractive, seductive effort with lots of plum, black cherry and black currant fruit, a medium-bodied texture, impressive purity, good length and accessibility, and a traditional style. Enjoy it over the next 7-10 years.

A 50-acre estate owned by the Melia family, Font du Loup can make as many as four cuvees, but I only tasted two 2010s.
