Bright, green-tinged yellow. A wild, intense bouquet displays scents of candied lemon, pear, jasmine and iodine, with a strong saline component and a hint of anise. Smoky, penetrating and deeply concentrated orchard and citrus fruit flavors show impressive energy and pick up a smoky quality with air. Rich but animated chardonnay that finishes with outstanding clarity and persistence.
Very tight, with a compact core of ripe apple, spice, honeydew melon and ripe fig flavors. Offers a slightly raw texture but has much to admire in terms of flavor, weight and balance. Drink now through 2019.
The 2011 Chardonnay Belle Cote reveals classic notes of tropical fruits (pineapple, mango), decent acidity, and a full-bodied, plump, up-front mouthfeel. This vintage will evolve quickly and thus is best drunk over the next 3-4 years.
