This is tightly wound, with a matrix of tannins supporting the cherry, strawberry, spice and tobacco flavors. Fine and balanced. Tar and earth accents chime in on the long finish. Best from 2018 through 2028. 960 cases made.–BS
Bruno Rocca has done a terrific job with the 2012 Barbaresco. This base wine is slightly more approachable and simple in style, but it ultimately offers the trademark complexity and depth that you should expect from top-tier Barbaresco. In the case of the 2012 vintage, the wine is especially generous in terms of its aromatic intensity and integrity. Wet earth, dark fruit, plum and pressed roses rise from the bouquet. In the mouth, the wine feels tonic, tight and fresh. -Monica Larner
The 2012 Barbaresco is a gorgeous entry-level wine from Bruno Rocca. Soft, open-knit and expressive, this gracious, perfumed Barbaresco captures the essence of the year at this level in its giving personality. Hints of orange peel, dried cherry, herbs, tobacco, wild flowers and mint add nuance on the finish. All the elements are in the right place. The 2012 is not super-complex, but it is open-knit, expressive and easy to enjoy today. In other words, everything an entry-level Barbaresco should be. – Antonio Galloni, DRINK: 2015-2025. November 2015
