Another fab release from this estate, the inky colored 2012 Crozes Hermitage les Trois ChĂȘnes exhibits abundant graphite, pencil shavings, charcoal and currant fruit. Medium to full-bodied, voluptuous and decadent, it has outstanding length and is already hard to resist. Made from 100% Syrah and brought up in a combination of tronconique tanks, demi-muid and barrels (some new), itâs a smoking Crozes Hermitage to drink over the coming 5-6 years. This was an incredible lineup by Emmanuel Darnaud, and he’s certainly one of the superstars of Crozes Hermitage. Making his first vintage in 2001, he releases three Crozes Hermitage (Mis en Bouche, les Trois Chenes and the Au Fil du Temps) and a Saint Joseph. I believe he also produces a white, but none were submitted this go-round. If you haven’t yet heard of this estate, now is prime time to fix that! — 92 Points, The Wine Advocate.
