The 2012 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Faconnieres includes 50% whole cluster fruit with 30 to 40% new oak. It has a heady, perfumed, floral bouquet with touches of creme de cassis, violet and wild heather that is beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, gently gripping tannins and well-judged acidity. It shows a little more backbone than the other Morey premier crus on the finish and will probably possess more longevity once bottled.
