The lemongrass element displayed by a number of wines in the Drouhin range in 2013 is particularly prominent here though it doesn’t completely dominate the accompanying floral and white fruit scents. The mouth feel of the medium-bodied flavors is both finer and cooler than those of the Meursault and I particularly like the persistence and subtle balance of the finale. While the two wines are qualitatively comparable, they are most definitely not the same.
Pale yellow. Aromas of white peach and white pepper are a bit blocked by oak. Vibrant but youthfully disassociated, with fruit currently masked by salty minerality. The saline quality carries through on the tactile, building finish. A more energetic wine than the Meursault but less expressive today. — Stephen Tanzer
