Quietly, but powerfully, the Gundlach Bundschu Winery has been on a qualitative highlight tour over recent years. They have been around for more than 30 years in Sonoma, but certainly things continue to go from strength to strength and consumers are well advised to give them plenty of attention. -Robert Parker.
Cabernet Sauvignon grown on Rhinefarm creates wines of depth and power, well-integrated tannin structure, intense dark fruit and layers of cocoa and cassis. Our Cabernet Sauvignons age beautifully up to ten years and beyond. – Producer’s site
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma shows juicy crème de cassis fruit, black licorice, nicely integrated toasty oak, an inky purple color and a medium to full-bodied delicious style. This is certainly a major sleeper of the vintage and one of the more attractively priced world-class Cabernet Sauvignons coming out of California’s North Coast in this miraculous vintage for Bordeaux varietals. Drink now-2030+.

Merlot is often one of their specialties, and I tasted two current releases.
