Omnia is approximately 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mouvedre, whole cluster vinified, and then aged partially in cement egg, 500 liter new barrels and old barrels, and for a total of 23 months on the lees. Because these wines remain in barrel so long, it’s possible to taste through them and see that from a warm climate terroir, there can be tremendous vintage variation and transparency in Chateauneuf. What you find in the finished 2013 is an intensely floral and spicy nose, and then the warm red and black fruits stretching out in a beautifully refined and unexpectedly vibrant palate, finishing with almost a perfumed minerality.
Explosive red berry liqueur, incense and Asian spice scents show superb clarity, with hints of floral oils and minerals providing additional lift. Silky, seamless and concentrated, offering sweet raspberry and cherry compote flavors sharpened by tangy acidity. A powerful yet graceful Châteauneuf with excellent closing focus and thrust. — Josh Raynolds
