Deep ruby color. Brimming with red fruit, dry plums, raisins and permeated by delicate floral scents of violets and touches of toasted vanilla and sweet spice. Itis very round and well-structured; fleshy with firm tannins. Pairs well with Skirt steak, sausages, beef empanadas, bbq and grilled shrimp. –Winemaker’s Notes
“A young malbec that shows blackberry, flowers and minerals. Full body, fresh acidity and a bright, focused finish that’s subtle and savory. Drink or hold.” –James Suckling
The 2013 Malbec Reserva mixes grapes form the Uco Valley and Las Compuertas in Luján de Cuyo in the blend. The destemmed grapes fermented in stainless steel tanks and the wine matured in French oak barrels (one third new) for some 12-14 months. You immediately notice the freshness of the vintage when compared with wines form 2012 or especially 2009. There are blackberries and lots of licorice with a lactic touch. The palate is medium-bodied with bittersweet flavors shaped by polished, round tannins and good acidity. This is clearly the wine with the better quality-to-price ratio of this collection. 800,000 bottles produced. — Luis Gutierrez, July 2015
