2014 Chateau Prieure Lichine Margaux

A wine of total finesse, the 2014 Prieuré-Lichine boasts striking purity in its fruit. The flavors are bright and floral throughout, with plenty of red currant, cherry and raspberry. There is virtually no sensation of tannin. Although perhaps not super-complex, the 2014 is impeccably balanced and harmonious from the very first taste. I imagine the 2014 will drink well with minimal cellaring, as it is already quite open-knit and expressive. This is a very strong showing from Prieuré-Lichine and consulting winemakers Stéphane Derenoncourt and Julien Lavenu. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
