“A refined wine, well appreciated in the whole world. A beautiful golden colour and a great aromatic palette: honey, linden flower (“tilleul”), hazelnut butter, sometimes even chamomile or hawthorn. On the palate, a silky roundness. Long on the aftertaste, with flavours of yellow plum and gingerbread”. — Winemaker’s Notes
The 2014 Meursault spent 11 months in oak. It has quite a complex nose considering that this is a village cru, precise with granite, smoky notes that develop in the glass. The palate is crisp and fresh with a keen thread of acidity, perhaps attenuating slightly towards the finish, but there is good persistence on the aftertaste. –Neal Martin, Nov 2015
Like the Mâcon there is plenty of smoky character present on the hazelnut, citrus and white orchard fruit-suffused nose. I very much like the sense of underlying tension to the ultra-fresh and pure medium weight flavors that culminate in a clean, dry and ever-so-mildly austere finale that displays near perfect balance. Again, this offers very fine quality for its level and is recommended, plus it will age.
(the crop was held down by heat stress and hail): Pale yellow. Peach and flowers on the nose in the mouth. Sweet in the mouth, showing a distinctly buttery quality but with underlying mineral-driven structure and a touch of tannins. No hail taste or dryness or overripe flavors here. A bit firmer than the Chassagne-Montrachet in a positive way; less evolved. An attractive, fresh wine with very good length.
