“A wine of great finesse, distinguished and elegant. The colour is pure and bright, with light glints of white gold. The aromas evoke trees in bloom and white flesh fruit, like white peaches. With age, the aromas evolve towards almond and lightly grilled dried fruit. On the palate, there is a sensation of fresh silkiness. The 2014 Puligny Montrachet has a little more vivacity and precision than the Meursault, perhaps more mineralité too. The palate is crisp and taut on the entry with good weight, tons of freshly sliced lime and kiwi fruit here with a bravura of a finish. Some unabsorbed post-bottling sulfur still lingers and it’s enough to dominate the nose at present though not so much that I believe there will be any lingering problem. Otherwise the middle weight flavors possess the hallmark elegance and refinement of a classic Puligny as the mouth feel is impressive, all wrapped in a complex, balanced and lightly mineral-inflected finale. This is a terrific Puligny villages and highly recommended.
Pale yellow. Discreet, pure aromas and flavors of white peach, apple and flowers. Less opulent on entry than the Meursault, then quite fine-grained and consistent from start to finish. Looks to be a terrific village offering.
