2014 Jacques Saumaize Saint-Veran Poncetys

This is one of the top Saint-Veran's out there. The "Poncetys" vineyard was planted in 1944, with its predominantly clay soil and excellent exposure providing this vineyard with plenty of sunshine ripening the grapes early and giving a richness to the wine. Made from old Chardonnay vines results in a complex, giving wine with a creamy texture balanced by a citrus-like acidity, yellow fruit, some minerality and a firm, balanced structure. On the nose there are aromas of vanilla, pineapple, toast and a slight hint of spicy oak. The polished flavors of lemon-Crème brûlée, pear, white peach and guava cover the palate with a silky feel. The flavors become more honeyed as they continual into the dry finish. A great value in white Burgundy
