Of Fratelli Serio & Battista Borgogno’s newest releases, the 2014 Barolo Cannubi is the most promising. Despite the difficult vintage, this wine shows integrated fruit with bright layers of sour cherry and cranberry. The mouthfeel is mild and thin, but you don’t get that sourness that I tasted in previous editions. This vintage shows a clean and fresh approach instead. The wine is fermented in wood and then aged in large Slavonian oak casks. Some 15,000 bottles were produced (a healthy number for this vintage). – Monica Larner – 29-06-2018
