2015 Chateau Le Devoy Martine Pays du Gard Rouge

Description

Aromas of raspberry, blackberry, briar patch and wild Provencal herbs with a hint of pepper. The wine has silky tannins, bright fruit and a satisfying finish. This is the perfect Summer BBQ wine. The blend is 25% Carignan, 40% Mourvedre, 15% Grenache and 20% Syrah.

We recently tasted the wines of Chateau Devoy Martine and were stunned by the quality. Wines from the Rhone Valley that offer this level of quality at these prices are hard to come by, but here you have them. This is a small family domaine with several generations of history tracing a journey from Sicily to North Africa and eventually to the Southern Rhone appellation of Lirac. The estate is currently in the hands of Veronique Lombardo. The wines quietly make the case for elegant, subtle whites, rosés, and reds from the south Rhone, which combine generous ripe fruit with understated vinifications, little use of oak, and a sensibility which is quite unique for the zone. Production is relatively small, and we are thrilled to offer these wines which deliver great elegance, authenticity and value.
