The Domaine Gueguen is a 55 acres estate split up between 35 different vineyards plots. In Chablis, they own vineyards in: Chichée, Préhy, la Chapelle Vaupelteigne. In Auxerrois, they own vineyards in: Saint-Bris and Irancy . This wine is sourced from two parcels of 10 and 7 acres from Prehy and Chichée. The 40 years old vines of Chardonnay are oriented with a South West exposure and planted onto the classic Chablis Kimmeridgian soils. (limestone and chalk) Yields: 55hl/ha
THE WINE
This Premier Cru is quite mineral and refreshing with light notes of unripe white fruits and citrus. In order to translate the purity of the soil, the Gueguen do not use any oak barrel for the ageing.

Palate: Clean start followed by unripe pear and green apple, citrus and mineral finish.

Serving Temperature: 47-48F
A firm, mouthwatering white, with a touch of grapefruit peel bitterness lifting the finish. Green apple and greengage are the core flavors. Drink now through 2018.
A ripe and really quite pretty nose displays mostly green fruit and lemon scents along with quinine and tidal pool nuances. There is solid complexity to the medium weight flavors that are supported by more evident acidity on the lingering finish. This offers good quality for its level and it too should drink well young.
