Various sources report that in 1957 a deed was signed before a solicitor which concerned a plot of vines located in « ad montem Olivetti » but it wasn’t until the begining of the 20th century that the association between the Sabon family and this locality was forged. Séraphin Sabon, a native of the the neighboring village of Serignan du Comtat married Marie, daughter of Romain Jausset, landowner at Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In 1932 they created the “Clos Mont Olivet”. Since then the domaine has passed through the hands of Joseph, eldest son of Séraphin and then his children. Today it is Celine, David and Thierry Sabon the grandchildren of Joseph who manage the estate.
Produced since 2005 The newest addition to the Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the estate. It is born from our desire to choose the best of our different vineyards to create a fine wine which is elegant and fruity and which may be enjoyed in its youth. -Clos du Mont-Olivet website
Wine Spectactor (WS)
Juicy and focused, with a racy beam of raspberry puree and cassis notes streaming through, flecked with light anise, floral and blood orange zest hints. A light chalky structure adds finesse through the finish. Best from 2019 through 2024. 500 cases made.

Brilliant ruby-red. Pungent red berry and garrigue aromas are energized by a spicy suggestion of white pepper. Juicy and focused on the palate, offering subtly sweet cherry, raspberry and blood orange flavors that show very good structure and depth. Closes smooth and gently tannic, displaying impressive length and a late jolt of lavender.
