Flirting with perfection, the 2016 McGah Family Cabernet Sauvignon is a seamless, flawless and a compelling Rutherford beauty. Unbelievable complexity and layers intermingle with aromas of berry compote, cassis with a black cherry core that jumps from the glass. The mid palate is a silky flow of abundant blue and black fruits, followed with an opulent, full-bodied mouthfeel. The integrated structure and polished tannins carry through to a detailed and long finish. This blend from five of our Cabernet Sauvignon blocks on the estate show cases what an amazing terroir the McGah Family Vineyard is. Allow two to three years for it to mellow out or enjoy it in its prime five to ten years out. It’s an absolute pleasure to release this wine. -Winemaker’s Notes
James Suckling (JS)
Very ripe, but with great freshness, this has the prototypical cassis aroma of cabernet sauvignon with a hint of fresh herbs. On the palate it’s quite full-bodied, but with polish that makes it come off a bit lighter than it is. The full, supple tannins and ripeness make it soft and creamy at the finish. Drink now.

Scarlett’s 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is powerful, dense and full of flavor. Medium in body, persistent and nicely layered, the 2016 has a ton to offer. Dark cherry, plum, tobacco, cedar, earthiness and licorice give the wine striking aromatic nuance and dimensions of complexity. The Estate is a classic Rutherford Cabernet long on class and personality. Mike Smith has crafted a gorgeous Cabernet that captures the essence of this site, with an extra kick of raciness that works very nicely.
