Named after a previous owner, Mr. Bataille, the vineyard lies next to the road from Beaune to Vergy (thus “Vergelesses” or, in 830, “Vergelosses”).

These red wines are characterized by their richness and delicate aromas, and are a superb accompaniment for grilled young pigeon, bacon- or mushroom-based dishes. -Winemaker’s Notes

Pro Reviews

Wine Spectactor (WS)

A rich, round style, boasting cherry, blackberry and light black pepper flavors. Firm and well-constructed, with a fresh, spice-tinged finish. Drink now through 2028. -BS (2020)

Wine Enthusiast (WE)

A ripe, rounded wine very much in the generous style of Savigny, this is already delicious. Produced from organically grown grapes, the wine has a young structure, still plenty of acidity and a good balance. Drink from 2021. -Roger Voss (12/01/2019)
