Enticing aromas of iris, red berry and pine forest are front and center on this stunning red. Made with organically grown Sangiovese, the structured palate is surprisingly fresh for the hot vintage, offering succulent red cherry, raspberry jam, clove and cinnamon alongside fine-grained tannins and tangy acidity. Surrounded by forest, the Istine vineyard is located between the towns of Radda and Castellina. The northwest facing site sits between 480 to 550 metres and is very rocky with a mixture of alberese, galestro and quartz. It offers a captivating fusion of raspberry, cherry and mint with earthy truffle nuances. The palate is tangy and buoyant introducing hints of orange peel and pomegranate. Fine-framed tannins contain the whole. While beautifully expressive now, this will continue to refine over the next decade or so. Drinking Window 2021 – 2031. -Michaela Morris (12/09/2019)

The 2017 Chianti Classico Vigna Istine offers a super-intriguing mix of floral, savory and mineral notes. This high altitude site planted between 480 and 550 meters preserves a good deal of freshness and aromatic intensity. Medium in body, nuanced and super-expressive, the 2017 has a lot to offer. It is one of the more nuanced, vibrant wines of the vintage. Lavender, spice, leather, menthol and licorice add the closing shades of nuance. -Antonio Galloni (08/2019)
