Sweet spot Outstanding. This too is quite deeply pitched with its ripe aromas of cassis, plum liqueur, spice, floral and soft oak scents. There is very good verve to the utterly delicious and slightly finer medium weight flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the balanced and harmonious finish. This isn’t quite as complex as the Grèves though that may well change with time as the track record of this wine developing well is firmly established. Drink: 2028+. – April 2020
The 2018 Beaune Clos des Mouches Rouge 1er Cru has a very pure, charming bouquet of layers of dark cherry, raspberry coulis and blueberry aromas, with just a touch of warmth from the slightly higher level of alcohol. The medium-bodied palate delivers saturated tannins. Lush and generous, almost New World-like in terms of fruit profiles, with a caressing finish. Lovely. Drinking window: 2022 – 2038 — Neal Martin, November 2019
