After a mild start with a mixture of dry and toasty days, the months June, July and August brought high temperatures, with a peak of 39.5°C. The rainfall in July helped to prevent damage from drought stress. A greater challenge for the winegrowers was damage caused by sunburn. Nevertheless, the ripening in September had progressed so speedily that they already began to harvest a ripe vintage with good acidity and high extract. Even if the quantities were more moderate, the excellent taste, a fine spiciness, good acidity and a rich flavor profile offer the means for a stellar vintage. Prüm is looking forward to an impressive vintage with fine acidity and great aging potential. -Joh. Jos. Prum
A great nose with sweet aromas of ripe stone fruits. The palate is elegant and well-balanced with a refreshing acidity and delicate minerality. This Riesling goes well with Asian cuisine and almost any spicy dish.
The 2019 Graacher Himmelreich Auslese (Gold Capsule) offers a concentrated and spicy bouquet with notes of tea and lemon chutney. Round and refined on the palate, this is a highly elegant and salty-piquant Auslese with delicate grip and very fine concentration. It tastes concentrated but not that sweet and enormously piquant and salty. Tasted at the domain in September 2020. -Stephan Reinhardt (10/30/2020)
