The pale lemon shade with golden and green highlights is shimmering and luminous. This wine develops a fine, elegant and long-tasting mousse. On the first nose, the wine reveals white flower aromas (honeysuckle, lilac), citrus notes as well as fresh butter and cream. After airing, as it is getting warmer, this Champagne exhales another spectrum of aromas. The wine reveals spicy notes of ginger, lemongrass, which were unsuspected until then. The beautiful quality of the acidity (present throughout the tasting) is especially remarkable. The frank vinosity of the wine (roundness and alcohol) gives an impression of strength and freshness. The wine appears both broad yet tight. These various sensations produce a pure, creamy and silky textured wine. The finish is clean, slightly mineral and long. The last aroma is the grapefruit. The impression will be remembered as a harmonious, healthy and vibrant wine. -Winemaker’s Notes
Fresh and focused, with spring blossom and smoke-tinged mineral aromas and flavors of plum, lemon curd and toast. A harmonious Champagne, with the racy spine of acidity and a delicate mousse carrying the lasting finish of spice, citrus and mineral. Drink now through 2023. 400 cases imported.
The NV Brut Premier Cru Cuvee Grand Cellier is a great starting place for readers who want to explore the Vilmart wines. An impeccably balanced, harmonious Champagne, the Grand Cellier has all of the qualities that make the Vilmart Champagnes so appealing. Sweet floral notes meld into expressive bright green orchard fruit, all supported by a faint vein of oak. Subtle hints of spice and white flowers add lift on the vibrant finish. The Grand Cellier is 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, based on the 2009 vintage, with 2008 and 2007 reserve wines. Disgorgement date: November 2011. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019. – Antonio Galloni – 31-10-2012
This blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir is vinified entirely in the larger size oak barrels known as foudres, and it’s typically a blend of three vintages. Rich in texture yet elegantly carried, and it ages with remarkable grace.
A blend of 70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay, this has a complex and sophisticated nose that delivers peach fruits and citrus, plus some bolder yellow plum fruits too. The palate is assertive, energetic and concentrated with peach and nectarine flavors met with lemony acidity. Long, really powerful Champagne here. Drink now or age on cork for three or more years.
