The blond color with pale golden highlights announces a wine mostly composed of Pinot Noir and reflects a perfect maturity. The effervescence is long-tasting, giving birth to a persistent and delicate mousse with fine bubbles. The first impression on the nose is marked by great intensity. She is opening on biscuit, mature wheat, pear and cherry flavor. After a few seconds, the nose became wider. The iris, oak, celery, white pepper and fine mineral aromas bring depth and complexity to the wine. With air, melted butter and toast notes appear, reflecting an harmonious evolution of the wine. There is a fine balance between the primary aromas (fruits), secondary (biscuit, bread, butter) and tertiary (minerals and spices). -Winemaker’s Notes
Wine Spectactor (WS)
Firm and focused, with a lively bead and a mouthwatering mix of verbena, lime granita, melon and mineral notes. Offers a racy, lightly spiced finish. Disgorged June 2017. Drink now through 2020. 250 cases imported.
Wine Advocate (WA)
Disgorged in May 2018, the latest rendition of the NV Grande Réserve Premier Cru is—as usual—a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, derived from the 2015 and 2016 vintages. Wafting from the glass with scents of fresh peach, buttered apples, warm biscuits and smoky citrus oil, it’s medium to full-bodied, broad and extroverted, with a fleshy, open-knit core, tangy acids and a youthfully frothy mousse. This is a giving, immediate rendition of the Grande Réserve that will drink well out of the gates. – William Kelley – 30-04-2019
James Suckling (JS)
A blend of pinot noir (70%) and chardonnay (30%), this has a profound sense of harmony on both the nose and palate. Aromas of grilled nuts, pepper and lightly spiced wild raspberry fruits are pristine, leading to a palate that has beautifully supple, fleshy texture. The acidity is assertive, not harsh; the depth, balance and concentration is really something. Drink now whilst fresh or up to three years.

The NV Grande Réserve, a blend of 2015 and 2014 vintages, is a very pretty wine. Soft, understated and classy to the core, the Grand Reserve has so much to offer. Pear, spice, dried flowers and mint grace the palate in this exquisite, impeccably balanced Champagne. Above all else, the Grand Reserve impresses for its total sense of harmony and class. This is a great introduction to the Vilmart range. I loved it. Disgorged: June 2017. Dosage is 9 grams per liter.
