Grower Champagne, also known as artisanal Champagne, is a truly handcrafted creation. In contrast to the big brand producers – the Grandes Marques Houses, grower Champagne makers own their vineyards and grapes, overseeing the entire process from start to finish. The big name négociants and coopératives are without a doubt more well-known as they produce 80% of Champagne’s output while only owning 12% of the vineyards. Grower champagne winemakers are artisanal in the sense that they grow, craft, and bottle their own wines. They oversee the entire process and are not focused on the quantity produced, but rather on the quality of the actual product. At The Wine Cellarage, we love our portfolio of grower producers and are always working to expand our offerings.
