Noticeable wood and reduction dominate the nose today and thus little can be deduced save that the underlying fruit appears to be quite ripe. There is good volume and an almost pungent minerality to the extract-rich and concentrated flavors that possess a distinctly compact impression at present and thus it will require several years for this to flesh out on the powerful and balanced but linear finish. This is certainly serious but perhaps a bit less austere than I usually find with this wine though this doesn’t necessarily translate into it being any more obviously precocious. -Burghound
