Searching for the next best pour? Highly esteemed producer Léoville Poyferré’s most celebrated wine is available to help you capture the moment both now and in the years to come.  Its exceptional taste demonstrates generations of devotion, skill, and grapes that were tested and harvested at the exact right time. As a result, each sip is inspired, energetic, and lingers just the right amount.

About the producer: Léoville Poyferré

Léoville Poyferré is a wine estate situated in the prestigious appellation of Saint-Julien and known for signature red wines like its namesake. Léoville Poyferré has been on the wine circuit since the mid-1800s and has been nurtured by the Cuvelier Family since 1920.  Driven by the ambitions of both pioneers and builders, the visionary Cuvelier Family longed to be producers of, in addition to merchandising, wine. The Cuveliers are a family with a long history in Bordeaux wine trading and are also owners of Château Le Crock and Château Moulin Riche.

Château Le Crock, the overture, was first established at the beginning of the 20th century and quickly followed by Château Léoville Poyferré and Château Moulin Riche. Each generation of Cuveliers has contributed to the family’s tradition from the beginning and continues to make great, attainable wines that are well-received around the world. Each property is intertwined and reflects all of the earthy richness and diversity of the Saint-Julien appellation.

The estate’s General Director, Sara Lecompte Cuvelier, shares that her “heritage is both a privilege and a responsibility” and credits her family and team members for the daily dedication, excellence, and warmth they bestow on every visitor that graces their properties, as is accustomed in North France. Their wines have become world-renowned for their exceptional terroir and are a gift to those who crave the finer things in life.

About the Bordeaux Wine Region

When it comes to wine, Bordeaux, France, is in a league of its own.  Back in 1855, Emperor Napoleon III requested a classification system for the best wines in France, where all the Grands Crus classés could be set apart.  This new way of classifying wines prompted a new wave of prosperity throughout the land and yielded regional wines of an even higher quality. More than a century later, Bordeaux continues to be a thriving place for wine production and tourism.

Bordeaux happens to be the largest vineyard region in France and is home to 54 appellations of Bordeaux wine. “Larger than all of Germany’s vineyards put together and ten times larger than all of New Zealand’s vineyards, the area’s distinguishable appellations and crus constitute an extensive palette of climates, soil types, and grape varieties.”  The environment plays a significant role in the Bordeaux wines we adore and sways various price points and producers.

Situated just a short distance from the Atlantic Ocean, three substantial rivers, and a number of gulf streams, the various grape vines flourish from the Bordeaux region’s water and weather, as well as from the protection of the surrounding pine forests to the south and west.  The domain’s vintage variation is to be sought after, as the affordable wines hold tremendous “value for years and years!”

About the wine: Château Léoville Poyferré

Château Léoville Poyferré is blended with fruit cultivated from terraces of Mindel gravel and sandy-clay subsoil.  In particular, the Cabernet Sauvignons ripen in the “Gaunettes plot, closest to the estuary” and are the foundation of this vintage’s exquisite style.  Born to endure, the tannins in the Cabernet Sauvignon give the potential to add depth, length, and a vintage thrill.

Said to be “the vintage of a century,” Château Léoville Poyferré 2020 is a well-polished Bordeaux bottled to perfection and made complete with embedded gold that mirrors Léoville Poyferré’s refined tenacity.  An immaculate blend comprised of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot fully embodies the taste of the Bordeaux region, as any worthy Bordeaux should.
